Steven Webster Atwood, the direct descendant of the American orator and statesman Daniel Webster, is the founder of Animal Health Care Associates, Ltd., a mixed-animal general practice located on the island of Martha's Vineyard.
Dr. Atwood graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1975 with a B.Sc. degree in Molecular Biology and graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (V.M.D.) degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. Dr. Atwood completed an internship in small animal medicine, surgery and critical care at the New Haven Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from the University of Health Sciences School of Medicine, St. John's, Antigua in 2006 and his Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree in Public Health Practice from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and School of Public Health in 2011. He is Board Certified in Public Health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners.
Dr. Atwood was awarded membership in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) of England in 2004 and serves on the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and the Board of Trustees of Falmouth Academy. He has served as a member and as Chairman of the Massachusetts State Board of Veterinary Medicine for many years. He is also a member of the Website Advisory Board for the One Health Initiative, a collaborative and integrative effort between physicians, veterinarians, nurses, and other scientific, health and environmentally-related disciplines to improve quality of life of humans and animals through cooperation and partnerships. In 2010, Dr. Atwood was inducted into the prestigious National Academies of Practice in Washington, D.C. as a Distinguished Practitioner and Fellow (FNAP) in Veterinary Medicine. Election to the Veterinary Medicine Academy is limited to 150 veterinarians worldwide. He was elected Chairman of the Veterinary Medicine Academy in 2013. He is also an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (FRSM) and of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH), both of London, England.
In Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania named the Steven W. Atwood Library & Information Commons and the Steven W. Atwood, V.M.D., M.D. Digital Laboratory in his honor.

Jennifer Kleinhenz attended Mercy College’s Veterinary Technician program where she obtained her BA degree and graduated with honors. After passing her state board exam she acquired her New York State Veterinary Technician license. She went on to complete a greatly coveted externship at the Bronx zoo. Her professional career began when she accepted a position at the Katonah Bedford Veterinary hospital where she worked alongside board certified veterinarians for the next five years. From there she moved on and accepted a position as head surgery technician for Dr. Martin DeAngelis, a board certified orthopedic surgeon. She worked with Dr. DeAngelis for the next three years until making her move to Martha's Vineyard. Jen joined the AHC team in May of 2013 and has been a great asset to the practice ever since. She has brought many years of high quality nursing skills to the team. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and skill base with the other up and coming veterinary technicians.

Terry had been our dedicated Practice Manager and an invaluable part of the Animal Health Care family for 22 years. She was a devoted mother, daughter, wife, sister, and friend. She will be truly missed and certainly never forgotten.
